New KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey/White

The shoe features a full suede upper in Cool Grey with special embroidery throughout the upper. Adding to the luxurious look is hairy suede which can be seen on the side panels and tongue. Additional details include a co-branded suede hang tag, KAWS’s “xx” logo takes place of Jordan Brand’s traditional Jumpman or Nike Air placement on its heel and a glow-in-the-dark outsole that also features KAWS graphics on it. Lastly, x’s hit the tip of the laces for the subtlest of detail.

What is the concept of KAWS?

When you hear the name Kaws, what are you thinking of? Right, it’s these sculptures, an interpretation of Mickey Mouse with x-ed eyes. The most famous motif of the artist Brian Donnelly, however, is only his biggest trademark.

The artist is known for subverting iconic cartoon heroes and in doing so he demonstrates his interest in the characters’ universal cultural value, reinforcing the idea that he makes no distinction between concepts of ‘high’ and ‘low’ art.
