Nike KD 12 ‘Aunt Pearl” Multi-Color

The “Aunt Pearl” line launched back in 2012 on the KD 4. This version of the Nike KD 12 includes graphics and details from previous Nike KD Aunt Pearl colorways. It features pearl graphic on the collar foam from the KD 4, sock liner graphic from the KD 5, rose heel graphic from the KD 6, wing strap across the forefoot from the KD 7, heel embroidery from the KD 9, the material on the tongue, collar, and Swoosh from the KD 10, and the outsole marbling from the KD 11.

5% of the revenue from each Aunt Pearl goes back to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The funding they raise goes to researching for a cure against all women’s cancers, not just breast cancer and developing programs in underserved communities.

Nike announced the KD VI Aunt Pearl, which honors Durant’s aunt who passed away from lung cancer in 2000. The proceeds from the special edition shoe will go to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

The KD VI Aunt Pearl pays tribute to KD’s aunt with a pink floral pattern on the upper and highlights of blue with subtle pearls.  The floral motif on the shoe is similar to the pattern on a robe that Aunt Pearl often wore.

Durant has vowed to make sure the memory of his Aunt Pearl lives on:

“I made a promise to myself to always honor my Aunt Pearl for the example she set, and the encouragement she gave me to follow my dreams,” said Durant.

Who designed KD 12?

The Nike KD12 is fully inspired by the 90s, which was a vision that Kevin Durant and head designer of the KD line, Leo Chang, shared from the very start of the design process.
